Children & Youth Council

Greetings From Our CYC Director

Hello CYC Parents, Youth and Partners,
Well, can you believe its already February. This year is moving so quickly and our young people have been doing some wonderful things. We have had a lot of things go on in addition to our normal Wednesday and Sunday ministries  including participation in this year's MLK Youth Summit and March, Mahogany Brain Challenge, and Basketball Team to name a few.
We have a lot of more opportunities coming up and would love to see those of you who can get your children involved and you too!
Here are some of the upcoming events an opportunities:
1. We want to have our first 'Parent Get together' of the year in April. Tentative date is April 21, but look for more details in next month's update.
2. CYC is moving!! Bishop and Pastor have given their approval for CYC to take over the 2-story building next to the cafeteria. We hope to move in by April. Please be in prayer with us concerning this move so that we can make the most of our new location.
3. New Creation is currently looking for the right individual to join our CYC Team and lead our Childrens' Ministry as the full-time Children's Ministry Director. If you or someone you know may be interested in applying, please read the attached and submit an application if interested. Deadline has been extended to March 20th.
Now for some events:5. The youth are going to the Acquire the Fire: Relentless event being held at Joe Freeman Coliseum on March 1 and 2. Cost is $55 and needs to be paid by Wed. For more details, email us at or give us a call.
6. Kudos to our 5th-6th Grade Basketball Team who competed in the Championship for the San Antonio Christian Athletic Association (SACAA) Basketball League today. They placed 2nd in the league in their first year! Coaches Dejuan Stanley and Randy Phoenix have done a fantastic job!
7. C'mon out and support our High-School basketball team at 7:45 who will play their first play-off game in the SACAA basketball league on Monday at University Methodist Church on DeZavala.
8. New Creation is working with the San Antonio Heat Track Club to provide opportunities for young girls and boys ages 5 - 18 to participate in track and field this year. The season goes from April to Aug. Sign-ups begin next month. For more info, see Bro Rufus Kemp or email us at
9. We also want to let you know about the opportunity for talented High School youth to participate in the NAACP sponsored ACT-SO competition. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase their abilities in the areas of Performing Arts, Humanities, Visual Arts, The Sciences and Business. For more info, please see the attachments.
We have also attached several additional opportunities for community involvement and scholarships that we want to make available for your review. We will send some additional ones as a follow up email. However, please note that these are not New Creation Sponsored activities or programs, so review and participate as you see fit. We are just making you aware of the opportunity.
Well that's all for now. Please be on the lookout for more exciting and useful info coming your way through email and our soon to launch communications team. God's grace be with you and yours. Have a great week!
